Getting to know your appliances.
This is for all of you that live alone or just moved on your own and have no idea how to take care of your appliances or how to deal with possible issues. Finally you decided to "adult" and move to a new condo apartment downtown. The appliances in the unit are there to make your life easy; however they need a bit of TLC from time to time.

Kitchen appliances:

Cooktop.
Sleek glass or ceramic cooktops could be found everywhere downtown. Brands like Fulgor Milano, Bertazzoni, Whirlpool, these appliances do not require much upkeep; all they need is a good clean with a ceramic top cleaner periodically. The only weak spot is if you drop a heavy object and break the glass. In that case call us and we will provide you with a free estimate for the repair.

Oven.
Brands available are Fulgor Milano, Blomberg and Whirlpool. Fulgor Milano and Blomberg do not have many issues however Whirlpool has a few to many issues for my comfort. Maintenance is to be performed periodically with a quality oven cleaner.

Range Hood.
The microwave range hood is an appliance that was built to save space by combining two appliances in one. Maintenance on these appliances is to be performed on the aspirator filter by washing it inside the dishwasher. These appliances do not last very long because they are exposed to oil and heat all the time, hence the motor and the internal components get coated in oil and fail. Once problems arise we suggest replacing the appliance.

Dishwasher.
The dishwasher is the appliance that gets the most abuse from the users. Dishes are put in without rinsing in the false belief that the appliance will be able to clean the debris away. All the debris and food particles on the plates clog the drain pump requiring a service call. Please rinse your dishes before using the dishwasher. It will save you money and headache.
